MEASURING GUIDE FOR DENIM JEANS & TOPS
JEANS
Key measurement guide for finding vintage denim jeans that fits you online
Finding the right fit for denim can frustrating, even if measurements are close to a pair that fit you well, may fit slightly different. Style, rise, and especially shrinkage, comes into play when finding a good fit of vintage denim jeans, jackets, and tops.
Vintage denim listed is made of 100% Cotton *unless noted otherwise.
"Shrink to Fit" is important to remember when shopping for vintage denim/jeans, as each pair has shrunk to fit different body types as they have been worn and washed.
Therefore, as a general rule, Levi's and other denim, shrinks about two sizes. A tab size says 32X36, will actually most likely measure close to a 30" waist and around 34" Inseam (if worn previously).
The general guide will assist in you finding a pair that fits you well. Contact with any questions!
JEANS/PANTS
Use a soft tape measure when measuring your body.
We recommend also measuring a pair of jeans you have that fit you well.
Measurements for our products, and as reflected in this guide are taken while lying flat and are approximate (and not doubled).
For example, if you wear a 30" waist, the flat measurement would be listed as half of that (15") in the product description *sometimes we provide a double measurement for ease of reference.
Primary measurements for jeans used are:
W: Waist
H: Hips (also referred to as SEAT)
R: Rise (also referred to as FR: Front Rise)
BR: Back Rise
I: Inseam

Refer to the measurement chart above
WAIST:
Measure your mid-waist which is 1-2 inches below the smallest part of your waist. This is where Levi’s typically sit.
If you want the jeans to sit low rise, measure where you want the waistband to sit on your lower waist.
INSEAM (Leg):
HIP:
Measure around your hips, where your bum is the biggest, all the way around. Remember that products listed are measured flat, so that means half of the measurement around. For items listed, double the hip measurement listed to see if it will fit your hips how you desire.
TOPS/JACKETS
Measurements are taken while lying flat, and are approximate (and not doubled)
Refer to the measurement guide picture above for reference on how to measure, and how we measure.
